Dear Birth Mother,

 

We have talked a long time trying to find the words that would best describe us, and who we are. It seems so important to get it right that almost no words can suffice. Maybe when the words are so difficult to come by, a simple start-at-the-beginning-and-go-from-there approach is the best. We are Colin and Lori. Years ago, our grandparents settled in the same small town that we currently live in. Our parents grew up in this town, as we did, and now our children are growing up here in the same small town.

 

We met at work and started dating shortly thereafter. Colin was a Materials Supervisor and Lori worked as an Accounting Assistant. After dating for a year and a half, we were married and started a new life together. That was 9+ years ago and we have since been blessed with a child of our own, Connor. It was always our intention that we have two children, but after unsuccessful attempts on our own, we believe God has given us adoption as the path to follow. As Jesus Christ was adopted by His father, we see it as a beautiful and rewarding way to grow our family.

 

Colin currently works as a Software Engineer and Lori works part-time as a Financial Controller for a real estate developer, although her work as a mother will always come first. We both hold degrees in higher education and believe strongly in the importance of education. We will provide our children with every opportunity possible to further their education. We take pride in reading with Connor every night and find it one of life’s simple pleasures.

 

Our lives generally revolve around doing things as a family unit. An annual trip to Disneyland, camping, snow skiing, and just trips to the park are special times for us. When homebound, movies, music, books, and water-fights in the backyard are what we like to do. You can often find Colin working with Connor on a do-it-yourself project in the garage. Woodworking is a favorite pastime of his and he makes Christmas presents every year for family and friends. Lori enjoys taking pictures and is trying her hand at knitting. Cooking is something we all enjoy and we’ll often make meal preparation a family affair. Sometimes it gets a little messy, but it also provides some special memories.

 

With a multitude of family in the area, holidays are always quite a busy time! Whether it’s one massive celebration with all of us together at once, or 2-3 smaller celebrations, we always get to see everybody during the holidays. Our extended family is important to us. They enrich our lives with their love and support, and allow us to reciprocate in their lives.

 

We are a part of an adoption fellowship program through our local church. This fellowship allows us to give and receive support and advice through our fellow members.

 

We ask that God give you the strength and courage as you make the difficult choice of providing the best possible future for your child. We ask that He give you the peace of mind in knowing you are doing the best that you can, and that He blesses you and your child.
